Appointments with CROC

CROC’s legal advocates help survivors identify their goals, do safety planning, and connect with other supportive resources.

CROC’s staff attorneys meet with domestic violence survivors to complete court forms and draft declarations to help survivors apply for restraining orders.  We take care of filing the paperwork with the court and pick up Temporary Restraining Orders, which last until the court hearing (2-3 weeks later).  CROC can also assist in having the other party served with the TRO.

Guidance & Hearing Preparation

CROC supports and prepares survivors for the hearing on the restraining order request.  On the day of the hearing, CROC accompanies survivors to court and prepares the restraining order paperwork for the judge’s signature. CROC can also assist with having the other party served with the restraining order after the hearing. When necessary, CROC assists in having orders enforced by advocating with the police and the District Attorney’s office.

Ensuring Access

CROC’ is designed to be accessible for all survivors.  Our office is wheelchair-accessible.  We have bilingual Spanish/English-speaking staff, and we provide free interpreters in other languages.  Our interpreter services have made the judicial system available for survivors who otherwise would have difficulty accessing it.

I went from not knowing anything, where to start, where to begin to getting help in all areas. I felt someone on my side guiding me throughout. Someone there to listen and assist me in all possible ways.
