Crime Victim Representation: The Marsy Project

The Marsy Project provides comprehensive, trauma-informed, victim-centered care to victims of crime.

We help survivors and victims of crime navigate the criminal legal system by providing them with situation-specific legal advice in a confidential and attorney-client privileged context.

Protecting survivors’ rights and voices

Crime victims have meaningful rights under Marsy’s Law, which is part of the California Constitution. But the criminal legal system can be complex; understanding these rights and how to assert them is not always easy.

To help ensure that survivors’ and victims’ voices do not get lost in the criminal process, CROC provides free legal information and services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking throughout all stages of the criminal process that could impact their safety and privacy. Survivors and victims can also get connected with Black Women Revolt Against Domestic Violence, which removes barriers for Black women who have experienced domestic abuse to receive access to culturally sensitive resources.

Services available through The Marsy Project to crime victims include, but are not limited to:

  • Information about the pros and cons of pursuing a criminal investigation

  • Information about the legal rights available to crime victims

  • Help navigating the investigation, prosecution, sentencing, and parole-related hearings

  • Representation in enforcing survivors’ rights under Marsy’s Law
