Restraining orders for survivors who have not had a dating or intimate relationship with the person who sexually assaulted or stalked them

About Civil Harassment Restraining Orders

A civil harassment restraining order is a court order that helps protect survivors from violence, stalking, severe harassment, or threats of violence. A survivor can request a civil harassment order against a person who has been violent (or threatened violence), sexually assaulted, stalked, or seriously harassed them. The purpose of a civil harassment order is to stop further abuse and harassment.

Protection for Survivors of Non-Intimate Partner Abuse

A civil harassment restraining order differs from a domestic violence restraining order in that the person who committed the violence, stalking, or harassment has no close intimate, dating, or family relationship with the survivor.

We Can Help

CROC provides compassionate and trauma-informed services to survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking who wish to seek the protection of a civil harassment restraining order. By educating clients about the court process and explaining their legal rights, we empower survivors to make informed decisions about what is best based on their own personal needs and circumstances. To help ensure their rights are protected, we offer free legal representation to survivors throughout the civil harassment restraining order proceeding.
